Employers provide a vital link between members and TRS. They forward member and employer contributions, report member earnings, member service credit information, and disseminate information about TRS to more than 159,000 active members. Information provided by employers determines the members' current service credit, creditable earnings, and retirement contributions.

Employer Spotlight

The Employer Services Department recently conducted two web-based training sessions for new bookkeepers. The sessions included information on annual reporting, supplementary and sick leave reporting and membership, as well as instructions on how to calculate creditable earnings, salary rate and service credit. The trainings were well received by those who participated and we are encouraged to continue them. New bookkeepers with little or no TRS experience will be the target audience for upcoming trainings. With that in mind, we are asking all new bookkeepers who have not had previous TRS training to contact Employer Services at with his/her date preference:

  • March 22
  • April 12
  • April 26
  • May 10
  • May 24

Each session will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last approximately three hours. Prior to each session, an email will be sent to the participants who have responded that will give the details for joining the WebEx meeting. Again, we are asking that only those bookkeepers who have not had previous TRS training to respond.

The Employer Services Department will continue to offer training opportunities for both new and more experienced bookkeepers. This will include more web-based training as well as the Employer Seminars planned for June 2018. Watch for the seminar dates that will be publicized in the near future.

Do not hesitate to contact us at 888-678-3675 if you have any questions regarding upcoming training sessions.

As always, your hard work and cooperation in all aspects of reporting is appreciated.
